Current List of Parks in NYC with Adaptive Swings

District #4 (Chelsea and Clinton/Hell’s Kitchen)

Adaptive Swings at the following parks:

  • Chelsea Park

  • De Witt Clinton Park

District #5 (Midtown, Flatiron, Herald Square, Times Square — 14th to 59th Street)

Adaptive Swings at the following parks:

  • Union Square Park

  • Madison Square Park

  • Two parks currently pending

  • Penn South Playground *

  • Lorraine Hansberry Park

* There will be a Sway Fun at Penn South, which is an inclusive swinging glider. There will be no other swings at that park. Sway Fun details: Sway Fun Glider

District #8 (East 60th to East 96th Street)

Adaptive Swings at the following parks:

  • Carl Schurtz Park – Catbird Playground

  • John Jay Park

Under Capital Renovation, the adaptive swing will be replaced at the parks below:

  • St. Catherine’s Playground – Scheduled for capital renovation by the end of the year

  • 24 Sycamore Playground – Scheduled for capital renovation within 2026–2027

  • Stanley Isaac Playground

No adaptive Swings at the parks below:

  • Dekovates Playground

  • Samuel Seabury Playground

Under Capital Renovation and adaptive swing will be added at the park below:

  • Ruppert Park – Scheduled for capital renovation September 2026

District #6 (East 17th to East 59th Street)

Adaptive Swings at the following parks:

  • Murphy’s Brother Playground

  • Bellevue South Playground

  • Augustus St. Gaudens Playground

(No swing frames at the following sites below)

Swings but no handicapped Swing:

District #11 (East 96th to East 142nd Street)

Adaptive Swings at the following park:

  • 103rd Playground

Swings but no handicapped Swing:

  • East River Playground – 106th Street FDR Drive Playground (Unable to place an adaptive swing without renovation and removing all swings in each bed area.)

The two parks that will be investigated for adaptive swings are Sauer Park and Dry Dock Playground. Note that these are both close to Tompkins Park, which does have a Jenn Swing.

For those seeking more detailed accessibility information, note that it is not prominently featured on the Parks Dept Website. There is currently no complete list of which NYC parks have adapted swings.
